Weight issues
Last friday when I took our BMI measurement, I was 54.5kg 1,7m.

That is the fucking heaviest I have ever been in my entire life, and I feel awful. All that sitting in an office chair for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, has obviously has added some weight. What pisses me off is that all the fats accumulated from all the junk food goes to my tummy and thighs. WHY CAN'T THEY JUST GO TO MY BOOBS. I'll be so fucking happy!

But it's about time I get my ass off and start exercising. I can sense that my arteries are being clogged up and my lungs half dying from all the shit I put through it in poly. 2012 will be the year I go back to my 50-52kg range!!!

Tall people

Somehow I just found this frickin hilarious! I don't get why people assume tall people play sports, ESPECIALLY BASKETBALL.

Maybe its not blood bonds that makes us a family. Perhaps its about people who know our secrets and love us anyway, so we can finally be ourselves.

Hong Kong Day 1
Most pic's stolen from YJ's camera cause apparently my battery was fried before the trip, so I could barely take photos :( So Day 1 was basically arriving at HK, checking in to our budget YWCA hotel, going to The Peak and Mongkok in the evening.

So I arrived at the Airport, first thing we did was bought an Octopus card. Unless you're going to be travelling like hell lot on trains I don't suggest you buy the special tourist Octopus card (300HKD). It's much cheaper if you just buy your Airport Express Train and get the regular card. Because if you're hardcore like us, you can just walk everywhere.

We were too early for check-in so we decided to walk around to soak up the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the blazing sun, hungry stomach and no sleep weren't of much help. That's when I also found out the hard way that Mongkok MTR wasn't so near after all.

But we did eventually find our way there and did our first touristy thing, visiting The Peak. A lot of people say that HK is very similar to Singapore, and I totally agree. When we were walking there we passed by this building, and holy crap the place was the same as Lucky Plaza on a Sunday... if you get what I mean.

I was super elated when I finally saw this sign. Until I saw the amount of people inside, I almost died.

Finally seated after 20 min of pushing and squeezing.

Alas, we reached the top, and we were greeted by a shopping centre with like 7 levels wtf. That's also where Mdm Tussauds is located. We didn't bother buying ticket to the Sky Terrace so we just went out outside on one of the levels to take photo. #budgettourists

NOT NICE DON'T BUY.

We took the same tram back down and settled on Honolulu Cafe at Stanley street for our lunch.

GO TRY THEIR EGGTARTS!!!! Their custard has this wonderful unique "watery" texture. Something like Old Airport Road's Lao Ban tau huey.

By then it was late afternoon and it was time for check-in at our hotel room at the YWCA. When I opened the door, I died a little. I swear it's damn pathetic HAHAHA We even had to use communal bathrooms.

Dinner at Tian Hao Yun near Mongkok. It's this tiny joint where you literally squeeze in one row with other people and have your meal. Apparently it's very famous.

Har gao, malay cake, and char siew bun (must order!!!)

Chee cheong fan, turnip cake.

The famous Mongkok, also where Ladies Street is located. Ladies Street is rubbish, a waste of time even going there. All they sell is overpriced tourists stuff. Better to walk further down where all the shopping centres are.

Forget where is this but the Mango Pomelo is frickin good! Just walk along Mongkok and you'll find plenty of food there!

And that's the end of Day 1. ;)

HongKong
So I'm finally going to talk about my trip to HK! I don't know why, but I had such HUGEEEEE expectations of HK itself. I thought it would have great food, great shopping and great everything. But no, overall I ended up disappointed! Pfft oh well, serve myself right for having such crazy mindset.

Well first of all shopping was mediocre, really. I would only suggest buying international brands which are definitely cheaper than Singapore. Like a Longchamp bag only cost $162, in Singapore it would cost you $269. Maybe I went to the wrong places, but the shopping there didn't seem appealing to me. Its either overpriced touristy places, or your usual shopping centers with branded names.

Food wise, I didn't particularly like the food, but Yan Jing seem to enjoy it. I blame it on the "HK food" here which are catered to Singaporean taste. But one thing I found really good was the egg tarts (duh) and this char siew bun. It's not your regular pau, but its this slightly sweet powdery white bun filled with char siew. It was SO GOOD, too bad it's not available here :(

Gotta love their transport system though! Fast, clean and efficient! When you're inside you can literally feel the cold wind blowing at your face. Super shiok especially during the horrible hot weather. The MTR has a few exits which can conveniently lead you the your next location.

GUIDE TO HK A LA BUDGET STYLE (PART 1)

1. Fly by Jetstar
Self explanatory. Try doing an online check-in, which safes you the time and trouble of going there early. If not, be a kiasu auntie/uncle and be there first in line at the Jetstar counter at T1. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET THE LAST ROW. Had that on my flight back to SG, worst experience EVER.

2. Book a hotel near the MTR
Use Agoda or Zuji to book to get a cheaper rate.

Basically it doesn't matter if you stay at a hotel at Kowloon or HK Island, but I strongly recommend just staying near the MTR. First day we stayed at the YWCA Anne Black and walked out I nearly died. It was pure torture for an unfit person who didn't get any sleep. Stupid website wrote there 10min walk to the MTR, but it was at least 20min walk!! Not to mention the weather was blazing hot, I reckon worse than SG.

3. Book your tickets in advance
Buy your tickets to tourist attractions online because chances are, they are definitely cheaper and you save time not queuing. Try Asiatravel, found them quite reliable and helpful. If you're in China, you can try buying from Taobao!

That's basically what you have to do before your trip there :)

Love/Hate relationship with the Holidays
So for the past 5 weeks while everyone has been making full use of the holidays to work and get extra income, I've just been lazing at home seeing my money deplete slowly from my bank account. I feel quite guilty really, but the thought of my internship coming up just makes me very... sian. 3 whole months working in the real world, I might as well just make full use of my holidays to bum around as much as I can. The only highlight of my holidays was the trip to HK with YJ. Which was a real great experience because this is the first time I've organised a trip to a foreign country by myself and a friend. Will post an entry about it soon!
